tldbox successfully evaluated as Registry Service Provider for ICANN’s New gTLD Program: 2026 Round

tldbox GmbH, one of nic.at’s sister companies, is pleased to announce its successful evaluation as a Registry Service Provider (RSP) under ICANN’s New Generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) Program: 2026 Round.

ICANN has confirmed tldbox’s technical capabilities for MAIN registry services, DNS, and DNSSEC, qualifying the company as one of a limited number of ICANN-approved RSPs worldwide.

The RSP Evaluation Program allows ICANN to assess registry backend providers independently of individual gTLD applications. This process ensures the security, stability, and resilience of the Domain Name System (DNS) ahead of the upcoming application round. As a successfully evaluated RSP, tldbox is now eligible to support applicants in the 2026 round, covering brand, generic, and geoTLDs.

Proven experience and European reliability

tldbox brings more than a decade of registry experience to the 2026 Round. Since 2014, the company has amongst others securely operated the registries for .BERLIN and .HAMBURG, demonstrating long-term stability and reliability as a European Registry Service Provider.

Founded in 2012, tldbox specializes in registry services and gTLD consulting and is part of a strong, TLD-focused group. As a sister company of nic.at, the registry for all .at domains since 1998, tldbox builds on proven industry standards in security and reliability. Another sister company, ipcom, contributes the globally trusted RcodeZero Anycast DNS technology, used by TLD registries and ISPs worldwide for more than 15 years.

Comprehensive registry services for .BRAND TLDs

As an ICANN-approved RSP, tldbox offers a complete registry backend service portfolio for brandTLDs and gTLDs, including EPP, RDDS, DNS/DNSSEC, ICANN reporting, escrow generation, and self-service dashboards for registries and registrars.

All services run on a high-performance Anycast DNS infrastructure and are designed to scale securely and transparently. Registry operations are hosted in the European Union and comply with ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIS2 requirements. The infrastructure is integrated with major registrars worldwide and connects seamlessly with escrow providers and the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH).

Ready for the 2026 application round

With the successful RSP evaluation completed, tldbox is fully prepared for the ICANN New gTLD Program: 2026 Round. The company is ready to support applicants with robust technology, regulatory expertise, and personal expert guidance.

“This evaluation confirms what our customers have relied on for years: secure operations, resilient infrastructure, and trusted expertise,” said Andreas Musielak, CEO of tldbox.

“We look forward to partnering with applicants to help expand the global TLD universe,” added Fritz Diekman, Business Development Manager New gTLD at tldbox.
