New gTLDs need robust infrastructure: Why tldbox is the Ideal RSP Partner

The current application round for new gTLDs raises a key question for many interested parties: What matters most when choosing the right technical backend partner? In a recent interview, Fritz Diekmann, Business Development Manager at tldbox, and Thomas Rickert, Director of Names & Numbers at eco.de, provided answers to this question.

As a sister company of nic.at, tldbox has decades of experience in securely and stably operating backend services for generic top-level domains. tlbox is also supporting companies through the current ICANN application process, which remains open until 12 August 2026.

With tldbox, applicants have an ICANN-certified Registry Service Provider (RSP) that meets the highest security and quality standards. These include DNSSEC, a global DNS network based on modern Anycast technology, and ISO-certified processes. As an EU-based company, tldbox meets all GDPR requirements and is NIS2-compliant.

The numerous successful client projects that have relied on tldbox’s infrastructure and expertise for years, such as .berlin and .hamburg, demonstrate the effectiveness of this combination of technical expertise and regulatory security.
