Pirate Bay-Gründer unterstützt alternatives Domain Name System
Pirate Bay-Gründer Peter Sunde kündigte vor einigen Tagen via Twitter ein neues Projekt namens P2P-DNS an. Er spiele darin eine untergeordnete Rolle und kümmere sich primär um die Kommunikation nach außen. Worum es sich bei dem Projekt handelt fasst Sunde kurz in einem Blog-Eintrag zusammen: "Wir wollen ein unzensiertes Internet. Ein zentrales System, das den Fluss unserer Informationen kontrolliert, ist nicht akzeptabel."

Gerade durch die Allgegenwart des Webs sei die Situation immer schlimmer geworden.

Kriminalbeamte fordern Internetminister
Der Bund Deutscher Kriminalbeamter (BDK) hat den IT-Gipfel als "reine Schauveranstaltung" kritisiert. BDK-Chef Klaus Jansen sagte der Neuen Osnabrücker Zeitung: "Die Politik verharrt weiter in der Zuschauerrolle, während das Ende der Privatheit im Netz schnell näher rückt." Bundesregierung und IT-Branche hatten sich am Dienstag in Dresden um 5. Nationalen IT-Gipfel getroffen.

Domain Name Registrations Pass 200 Million Globally
There are now more than 200 million domain names registered around the world, an increase of 3.8 million domain names or two per cent over the previous quarter according to the latest VeriSign Domain Name Industry Brief. E-mail, the last Internet link to traditional, epistolary, interpersonal communication, is, he said, outmoded. Young people, by which he meant younger than his own 26 years, desired something more nimble for their iPads, mobile phones and other devices. What he proposed was a "social inbox" where users could readily access messages from friends and then sort them — sort of a cross between instant messaging and Twitter.
