Die DENIC eG, Registry für das deutsche Länderkürzel .de, hat den
erstmals im Jahr 2000 erschienenen Domain-Atlas neu aufgelegt. Neue
deutsche Domain-Hochburg ist demnach Osnabrück, das München und Bonn auf
die Plätze verwies.

re:publica: Netzneutralität als Schutzwall gegen Zensur
Der US-Rechtsprofessor Tim Wu hat das Prinzip des offenen Internet als fundamental für den Erhalt demokratischer Grundwerte in der Informationsgesellschaft bezeichnet. "Die Netzneutralität ist so wichtig für die Meinungsfreiheit wie der erste Verfassungszusatz der US-Verfassung", sagte der Jurist am heutigen Donnerstag auf der Konferenz re:publica in Berlin.

IPv6: Not A Simple Renumbering
A decade ago, organizations went through a massive overhaul of their IT infrastructure in an effort to prevent the massive outages anticipated with Y2K. Now they need to decide whether a similar investment will be needed again. Publicly routable IPv4 address allocations are going to reach exhaustion in the next two years, if the projections from the Number Resource Organization (NRO) are to be believed.

Students show creative ways to raise .eu awareness
The winners of the 2009 .eu marketing competition, Badr Bakhat, Tristan Goguillot, Benjamin Neu and Benjamin Petremont, presented their project at EURid headquarters yesterday. The student team, from the Paris-based school of management ESCP Europe, showed the .eu registry original and innovative ways to raise awareness of the .eu top-level domain. As a reward for their efforts they received a gift voucher for air travel within Europe. Second place winner Thomas Aichner was awarded a weekend in Brussels for four.
