Domain pulse 2008
Monday, 25. February 2008

On February 21st and 22nd 2008 the conference Domain pulse 2008 took place in Vienna. The expert meeting Domain pulse is the most significant event in Europe – especially in the German-speaking region - regarding current issues and trends on domain names and the Internet. The registries of Austria (nic.at - Registry for .at), Germany ( DENIC - Registry for .de) and Switzerland ( SWITCH - Registry for .ch and .li) organise the Domain Pulse conference each year, alternating between each country. This year’s Domain pulse was hosted by nic.at in Vienna.

Special honours for nic.at were the greeting words by the Federal Chancellor of Austria Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer, who congratulated nic.at to the event and the 10-year-anniversary, as well as the visit of the State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery Heidrun Silhavy. State Secretary Silhavy announced in her greeting words amongst others the future cooperation between the Federal Chancellery and nic.at on the implementation of the new Austrian CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team).

Central topics on the first conference day were exciting presentations and discussions on Internet Governance, the TLD-Landscape in Europe as well as Search-engine Marketing and the Relevance of Domains in a modified Economy and Information-Society.

The second day of this years Domain pulse focused on Security on the Internet and Internet Infrastructure. Besides that the interesting topic „Internet Addiction - scourge communication“ was analysed as well as „ Visions for the future on the Internet“.

We are pleased to be able to look back on a very successful Domain pulse with about 250 participating national and international Experts from all areas around the Internet.

Detailed Information as well as the presentations can be found on the Domain pulse website underwww.domainpulse.at.
