Deutschland muss seinen Titel als Domain-Weltmeister im Bereich der Länderkürzel an China abgeben. Wie aus einer aktuell veröffentlichten Statistik des Anbieters von Internet-Infrastrukturdiensten VeriSign http://www.verisign.com hervorgeht, hat die chinesische Top-Level-Domain (TLD) .cn das deutsche Pendant .de mit dem ausgehenden dritten Quartal dieses Jahres überholt und liegt nun insgesamt hinter .com auf Rang zwei der TLD-Wertung.

Provider sperren Wikipedia wegen Kinderpornografie
Sechs britische Internetprovider haben den Zugriff auf Wikipedia gesperrt, nachdem die Internet Watch Foundation die Online-Enzyklopädie auf die schwarze Liste gesetzt hatte. Grund dafür ist das Foto eines CD-Covers, das von der Organisation als Kinderpornografie eingestuft wird.

A TLD is the last part of an Internet address (i.e. the part which follows the "dot"). For example, in the Internet address for our firm's website, www.brazeauseller.com, ".COM" is the TLD. Generic TLD's
("gTLDs") are the relatively few TLD's which are open for registration to anyone in the world. .COM is the most commonly known gTLD, but others include .ORG, .NET and .INFO. ISNIC (.is) cuts initial registration fee
ISNIC, the .is domain registry (Iceland), announces new registrations fees as from 1st December 2008:  The registration fee has been lowered. The registration/renewal fee is now EUR 39, for all domains.  Only the first year needs to be prepaid and the special startup fee is no longer charged.Invoices will from now on be issued in euro.
