A domain can be cancelled at any time, but only by the domain holder himself – in writing and personally/by an authorised signatory of the company. Please send the cancellation to your nic.at registrar or directly to nic.at. For a cancellation we need a fax confirmation

Time limits and liabilities
The cancellation period ends at the 28th day before the beginning of the new service period, which is indicated on the invoice. Unless the cancellation is submitted in time, nic.at has to charge the new service period – even if the cancellation should take place immediately. Open debts will remain active.
Effects of a cancellation
As the cancellation date you can choose “immediately” or “at the end of the current service period”. From this date on the domain is locked (cool-down period) and, thus, no longer technically operative. After this technical lock (presumably 8 weeks) the domain will be available for a new registration.The cancellation with nic.at only affects your domain but no other internet services provided by your ISP. Therefore, we advise you to contact your ISP as well.
