FAQ
Partner (Registrar)

What are the advantages of the registrar system?
-
As a nic.at registrar you are entitled to modify certain domain data without sending the written confirmation of the domain holder to nic.at - your applications can be processed automatically, which is much faster. You also get a special registrar price, service by the registrar team, as well as admission to the nic.at registrar-web. In addition, you are listed as a nic.at partner on the nic.at website.

What are the requirements in order to participate in the registrar system?
-
A concluded registrar contract and the administration of at least one .at domain. The special registrar price will be charged after the conclusion of the contract. Additionally a monthly minimum-amount of 180 must be payed. Please contact registrar
nic.at
for any inquiries.
How do I qualify for the registrar system?
-
By signing a registrar contract with nic.at and returning all necessary documents. The technical communication and sending of applications is done via EPP or the special registrar-web. The nic.at registrar team ( registrar
nic.at
) will gladly send you the contract documents upon request.
Which documents must I attach to the registrar contract?
-
In addition to the filled-out and signed contract in duplicate, please include a copy from the register of companies (not older than four weeks) or your trade licence.

When do i have to specify an authorised addressee?
-
Unless the location of the registrar is within the European Economic Area (EEA), he has to specify an authorised addressee within the EEA. This authorised addressee is necessary to submit vital information and relevant documents (including a lawsuit for instance) to the registrar within the EEA. If you don’t have a trustee you can contact a law firm that offers such services. Please note that the specification of an authorised addressee is essential for the conclusion of the registrar contract. In case you have a branch office within the EEA, such a trustee is not required.

What is a nic.at registrar?
-
Registrars are ISPs who conclude a special domain administration contract with nic.at. You can perform certain modifications without sending the domain holder's confirmation, but you are also liable for defects. However, being a registrar is not a precondition for the registration of .at-domains.

Who can be the invoice recipient of a domain?
-
Domains are usually billed to ISPs or registrars, as those carry out the administrative and technical tasks of the domain registration and charge their services including the nic.at fees altogether. However, domain holders or other persons can act as the invoice recipients, too. If you as the domain holder want to be also the invoice recipient, please inform your ISP before the registration.

Why can the registrar effectively register a domain for the domain holder?
-
The registrar acts as a proxy for the domain holder by registering the domain on his behalf. No matter who orders a domain on behalf of the holder - the domain holder is the contractual partner of nic.at. Detailed information is available here
.
