ICANN nimmt Estland die TLD weg
Die ICANN hat gestern den Vertrag mit EstDomains, dem Verwalter der TLD für Estland, außerordentlich gekündigt. Als Grund gibt die ICANN in ihrem Schreiben an, dass der Präsident von EstDomains Vladimir Tsastsin am 6. Februar 2008 von einem estnischen Gericht rechtskräftig wegen Kreditkartenbetruges, Geldwäsche und Urkundenfälschung verurteilt worden sei.

EstDomains Update: Notice of Termination Stayed On 28 October 2008,
ICANN sent a notice of termination to EstDomains.
Based on an Estonian Court record, ICANN has reason to believe that the president of EstDomains, Vladimir Tsastsin, was convicted of credit card fraud, money laundering and document forgery on 6 February 2008.

Dispute over .africa domain
IP address registry AfriNIC has had to postpone its planned November meeting in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa due to disagreement over the future location of a .africa address zone. According to AfriNIC, the hosts, the Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation, have cancelled the ninth meeting of the African address registry at short notice. The organisation has thus found itself forced to divert to Mauritius. The reason for the Ethiopian cancellation appears to be wrangling over the operation of the planned .africa TLD.
