Japan entwickelt Cyberwaffe
Japan hat einen Computervirus entwickelt, mit dem sich der Ursprung einer Cyberattacke zurückverfolgen und dessen Programm neutralisieren lässt. Wie die Zeitung „Yomiuri Shimbun“ am Sonntag berichtete, krönt die Entwicklung der Cyberwaffe ein dreijähriges Forschungsvorhaben mit Kosten von 179 Millionen Yen (1,79 Millionen Euro), das die Regierung der Technologiefirma Fujitsu übertrug.

SOPA verliert öffentliche Befürworter

Weißrussland reglementiert Internetnutzung
Die Republik Weißrussland (Belarus) wird mit neuen Vorschriften die Internetnutzung seiner Bürger stärker reglementieren. Das ab 6. Januar geltende neue Gesetz "317-3" über Verwaltungsübertretungen beschränkt die Nutzung ausländischer Internetdienste durch Weißrussen und (andere) Ansässige.

BSI warnt vor »DNS-Changer«-Abschaltung
Das Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik empfiehlt allen Bürgern, ihren Rechner unbedingt noch vor Anfang März mit einem speziellen Tool auf eine mögliche Infektion mit der gefährlichen Schadsoftware »DNS-Changer« hin zu untersuchen.

Tails: Anonym im Internet
Tails ist eine Linux-Distribution, die als Live-System von CD oder USB-Stick läuft und besonderen Wert auf den Schutz der Privatsphäre des Anwenders legt. Sämtlicher Internet-Verkehr wird über das Tor-Netzwerk geleitet und so anonymisiert; als Live-System hinterlässt Tails (kurz für "The Amnesic Incognito Live System") keine Spuren auf dem verwendeten PC.

Online-Videos: Amerikaner sehen lieber fern

Insurance Against Cyber Attacks Expected to Boom
Sony is still awaiting the final tally for losses related to its data breaches earlier this year. At last count, it had compromised 100 million customer accounts, and Sony anticipated the debacle would cost $200 million. With 58 class-action suits in the works, that may be wishful thinking. Financial terrorism: Policymakers worry about attacks on America’s financial system
The financial industry has done such a good job of bringing itself to its knees over the past four years that it is easy to overlook the threats it faces from outside. High among them is electronic attack. In 2010 Symantec, a cybersecurity firm, estimated that three-quarters of all “phishing” attacks, in which people are deceived into surrendering private details such as account numbers, are aimed at the finance sector. Bob Greifeld, the boss of NASDAQ, has described his bourse as being under “literally constant attack”.
